Here's how you get started at 1808:
If you're brand new to CrossFit, you'll begin in our Fundamentals Program. The Fundamentals Program consists of 6 classes that cost $50. The Fundamentals Program begins on the first Monday of each Month (be sure to check your calendar so you don't miss this next opportunity). 

Through these 6 classes, we'll teach the 9 Foundational Movements of CrossFit. We'll instruct on form, technique, then intensity while slowly building up your confidence, strength and endurance. At the end of these 6 classes, if we feel you're ready for group classes, you can join the regular classes during regularly scheduled class times.

If we feel (or you feel) more instruction is needed, we'll schedule additional one-on-one sessions to dive a little deeper into developing proper movement and building up your fitness to best prepare you for group classes. We want this to be Fitness for Life, so that's how we approach it. 

The Fundamentals classes are held at 6:30pm as follows:

In our view, fitness is much more than running on a treadmill, riding a stationary bike for hours on end and using cable machines. We know. We've been there. Our bodies are meant to move and move well. We dedicate our time to getting you moving properly, understanding nutrition and developing strength in as many domains of fitness as possible, which improves health and wellness in the long run. The lessons learned and challenges faced through our workouts build strength, character and confidence that carries over into our everyday lives. We have not only lived it, but we have witnessed it first hand right here in Knox County through our dedicated hardworking members.

Nick Fiorilli, Co-Owner & Head Coach

Nick has been involved in fitness his entire life. He was a three sport athlete in high school and went on to play Division III Baseball for Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. While at W&J, Nick earned a spot as the starting shortstop for the Presidents and held that position all four years. Nick discovered CrossFit in 2010 and officially joined a CrossFit affiliate in 2012 (CrossFit Crave). It was through CrossFit that Nick truly discovered the meaning of fitness and what the community could do in terms of training. Nick cares about helping people get healthier and achieve their goals. He has a passion for coaching and loves watching people build confidence through the avenue of fitness. 

Nick and his wife Katie live in Mount Vernon and are expecting their first child in late June 2018. Nick also works part-time as an attorney advising and consulting in the areas of small business within the fitness industry. Nick also practices in the areas of real estate, estate planning and administration, probate, and contract review and drafting.

Vince Fiorilli

Co-Owner, Head Coach & Head of Programming

Vince ("Vinnie") was very active in sports growing up and made fitness a priority in his life. Growing up with two older brothers, there was always competition amongst the three of them. Vinnie discovered CrossFit in 2012 at the consistent encouragement from Nick. Through CrossFit, Vinnie has learned the importance of taking care of your body through valiant efforts of increasing mobility and making sure joints are healthy and proper muscles are firing.  Vinnie's passion is demonstrated through his dedication to helping members of all abilities increase their fitness, hit PR's, get their first handstand push-up and do things they didn't think their bodies or minds were capable of doing.

Vinnie lives in Mount Vernon and outside of CrossFit 1808, he dedicates his time to Sherwin Williams as the full-time manager of the store in Mount Vernon.

Katie Fiorilli, Co-Owner & Coach

Katie is the backbone of CrossFit 1808 and a true testament to what you can achieve through hard work and discipline. Katie has always been active in sports and fitness. Katie attended Denison University just south of Mount Vernon in Granville, Ohio. While at Denison, she played Varsity Volleyball for the Big Red.  Katie is very active at 1808 not only in her dedication to her workouts, but also oversees the administrative tasks and finances of 1808. Katie discovered CrossFit through the craziness of her husband Nick, and started her CrossFit journey when she opened the gym with Nick and Vinnie in August 2014. In this time she has gained strength in ways she did not think were possible. Conquering strict Pull-ups, Push-ups, Olympic Lifting and a level of confidence that arguably, would not have been possible but for CrossFit. Katie has her CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate.

Aside from keeping Nick and Vinnie in check, Katie dedicates her career as an Emergency Veterinarian and Medical Director for MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets at their location in Hilliard, Ohio.

Josh Kirby, Coach

Functional fitness has been a staple of Josh’s career choices. After graduating high school, Josh enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. The Corps inspired his love for running and that is where he focused most of his fitness. After four years of service, Josh moved back to Mount Vernon where he continued his education at MVNU. He graduated from MVNU in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.

 In 2015, Josh decided he wanted to be challenged by more than just a hard run and walked through the doors of 1808. The WODs consistently amazed and humbled him and he kept coming back for more. CrossFit has taught Josh the importance of well-rounded fitness by exposing areas of weakness and allowing him to improve upon them. As an officer with the Mount Vernon Police Department, the practical application of functional fitness has become an even more important staple in his life. For Josh, CrossFit is more than just a hobby, it could be the difference between life and death. Josh obtained his Level 1 Trainer Certificate in 2017 and has been coaching at 1808 since.

 Josh shares his love for CrossFit with his wife, Bree. You will often find the two of them hanging out at the gym together crushing WODs or at home hanging out with their child...an 80lb Pitbull named Murdock.
